ZETA CEO Appointed to AT&T Consumer Advisory Panel to Champion Gen-Z, Digital Access, and Spectrum Policy

Jan 2, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – ZETA (Gen-Z Emerging Technology Action) is proud to announce that our President & CEO, José Ignacio Gaona, has been appointed to the AT&T Consumer Advisory Panel (CAP.) In this role, José will represent the interests of our growing Gen-Z movement and audiences ensuring that telecommunications infrastructure and federal policy align with the needs of the future.

The appointment follows ZETA’s extensive national work in broadband and connectivity, where the organization has emerged as a leading voice. Under José’s leadership, ZETA has been a vocal advocate for critical federal initiatives, including the successful reauthorization of FCC spectrum auction authority. By pushing for the release of new spectrum bands, ZETA has worked to ensure the U.S. has the necessary bandwidth to support the massive data demands of the growing economy from AI-driven mobile applications to universal broadband access.

"I am honored to join the AT&T Consumer Advisory Panel at a moment when connectivity is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental requirement for participation in modern society," said José Ignacio Gaona. "Gen-Z is driving a digital revolution that requires more than just 'good' internet; we need a robust, high-bandwidth infrastructure that can keep pace with our innovation. I look forward to bringing our generation’s unique perspective to the table."

Through its digital platforms, ZETA reaches over 200,000 young people monthly, educating them on the technical and policy hurdles facing the American digital landscape. The organization has mobilized hundreds of advocates to engage with policymakers and industry to highlight how spectrum availability directly impacts access, workforce development, and technological sovereignty.

On the Advisory Panel, José will focus on key priorities for the Gen-Z community, including:

  • Spectrum & Bandwidth Expansion: Advocating for the continued auction and deployment of mid-band and high-band spectrum to power the next generation of 5G and beyond.

  • Digital Equity: Ensuring that the expansion of the digital age reaches rural and underserved communities where Gen-Z talent remains untapped.

  • Consumer Privacy & Trust: Advising on how emerging technologies can be deployed responsibly while maintaining the high standards of privacy that young consumers demand.

"Our work at ZETA has always looked at the underlying infrastructure that makes progress possible," Gaona added. "Whether it’s advocating for spectrum auctions in D.C. or discussing consumer experience with AT&T, my goal is to ensure that Gen-Z isn't just using these networks, but helping to design the future of how we connect."
